When I finally got an appointment with my phych doctor I was in my 12th day of withdrawals. He prescribed Klonopin. I was sick for 4 weeks with severe mental and physical pain. I went back two weeks ago and he took me off the klonopin, without a drop down, and put me on buspar.

At the time of my appointment he renewed all my current phsch meds but decided, without informing me, that he was not going to renew my restoril. I only found out about it because I only had 2 left, So i called the mail order company and they stated that my psych did not renew the restoril script.

So, it has been almost 2 weeks off all benzos and I am waiting for the buspar to kick in. I have been on buspar for almost two weeks now. I am anxious for the buspar to kick in. I still have withdrawal systems. I hope the buspar will help me relax and not be so anxious.

I was prescribed this medication recently also. The last thing I need is for my anxiety to be exasperated with more trouble to deal with. I have a good doctor now who is treating my anxiety with Valium which works for me but I know it is very addictive and the last thing I want is another addiction. I never started taking it for some reason I think my addictive behavior thought I needed eight instant gratification I wanted it to work today.

Looking for a new dr now, one one is not so quick to prescribe poison. Not all doctors think they are better. People abuse xanex all of the time. And if they prescribe something like that and the person abuses it, they could be held responsible. I have met two doctors that lost their licence due to patients ODing on xanex and pain killers. Out of nowhere I started to get vertigo, and horrible heart palpitations. I stopped taking it cold turkey and ended up almost going to the emergency room because I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was because my anxiety has sky rocketed because of these withdrawal symptoms.

So I got back on it and cut my dose from 5mg a day to 2. I have never experienced anxiety to this measure before. I have been on many different medications and have never had issues like this before. I went off it a few days agai and I have been out of it since they upped my dose. So I decided to quit after taking it for 3 weeks.

This is terrible. I have been on Effexor for 13 years. Nothing like trying out new things and see which method would do the trick. I do take a sleeping drug, Trazadone, which I believe will also work for anxiety, as they make us relaxed and immediately fall asleep. Unfortunately, I developed tolerance, so they no longer work for me. We might even become dependent on them.

Upping the dose is a bad idea, and if necessary, it should not be more than times per week. Reading this thread got me thinking, as I have a BuSpar prescription and I am having the time of my life with it. After I take it, I feel a nice buzz for about half an hour, and at night I can enjoy watching TV or something, a far cry from all the benzos which made me fall asleep.

Never felt any of those zaps that you mentioned. I was not feeling uncomfortable though, and while walking, I noticed I was bumping into walls and missing things I want to grab. After an hour, I no longer felt that anxious and had an additional 15 mg pill with lunch. One to two hours after taking the second dose, my head started zapping as you guys have mentioned, and this was more acute when I was moving. I have no idea what causes this! Over the 2-hour barrier on the last take, my memory was bad, but I was so sleepy that I simply passed out.

Buspirone treats depression but has no recreational value as far as I see it. I also agree with all of you; we should never mention to our doctors that we have used recreational drugs if we want to have a prescription for any decent drug.

If we say we have used them, even in a legitimate way, we will never have them, so we have nothing to gain by saying it. Use of illegal drugs is considered abuse, and if an abuser is identified, they will always be identified as someone who can abuse again. It gives a social vibe far superior to alcohol, as we get disinhibited, and we enjoy talking and getting around with other people. Buspirone helped me with anxiety, but as an aid for withdrawal symptoms from opiates, it is not worth it.
